Documenting Brooklyn is a student-led archival project from UNC Charlotte’s School of Architecture, dedicated to preserving the memories, voices, and visual history of Brooklyn’s lost neighborhoods—once-thriving communities that have been erased or transformed over time.

Through oral histories and visual documentation, the project brings forward stories of deep personal and cultural significance, ensuring they are remembered and shared with future generations.

Born from a collaborative class, the project blends design, research, and storytelling to honor Brooklyn’s vibrant past. It’s a living archive shaped by community connection and a commitment to heritage.
